Yes. Rawstone has zero sugar and only 0.4 g of carbohydrate per serve, so a serve in water won't break your fast. During a fast your kidneys keep flushing sodium even though nothing is coming in, and potassium and magnesium follow it out. That loss is where the headaches, dizziness and afternoon flatness often come from. A serve in water puts back what you're losing.

For sweetness we use Reb M. If you haven't heard of it: most sugar-free drinks are sweetened with stevia, and the common cheap grade (called Reb A) is what leaves that bitter aftertaste. Reb M comes from the same plant but tastes clean. It costs more, which is why most brands don't use it. Both sweeteners have zero calories and zero sugar.

On a low-carb diet your insulin stays low, and low insulin means your kidneys stop holding onto sodium. The brain fog, fatigue and cramps people call keto flu track closely with that sodium loss. The 1000mg of sodium in each serve is there to replace it.

One serve mixed into 750ml of water. Morning is the most popular time, because your body loses fluid and sodium overnight. One serve a day is the maximum. On heavy training days or in the heat, time it around your session.

If you're eating low-carb, fasting regularly, or sweating more than most, you're probably not getting enough sodium from food alone. New to higher sodium? Start with half a serve and build up to one full serve a day.

Rawstone is a formulated supplementary sports food. Not suitable for children under 15 years of age or pregnant women: should only be used under medical or dietetic supervision. It is not a sole source of nutrition, so use it as part of a nutritious diet, alongside an appropriate training or exercise program.

The 1000mg is deliberate. Most electrolyte drinks give you 200–300mg, which is too little to notice. An hour of moderate exercise can cost you 500–1500mg of sodium in sweat, so we set Rawstone at 1000mg. That's enough to actually replace what you lose.

If your doctor has you on a restricted sodium intake, check with them before adding any electrolyte supplement. For everyone else, you're replacing sodium your body has already lost.

It doesn't taste harshly salty either. The potassium is in citrate form, because the cheaper chloride form tastes like metal, and the magnesium citrate dissolves fully in water. Together they round out the flavour.
